OUR MISSION
Atelier Artefact is a multifaceted studio in which current and emerging Quebec metal artists and jewellers can explore, design and create unique works in metal and complementary media. We prioritize diversity, inclusion, and community by offering fair access to tools, mentorship, and exhibitions. Our transparent policies address barriers of race, disability, gender and income. We commit to ongoing learning, listening, and adapting our policies to ensure our organization remains responsive to community needs and advances artistic equity for all.
Objectives of the studio
Establish a creative space that fosters the exchange of ideas and creativity among the community of metal artists and jewellers which exists in Montreal, Quebec and throughout Canada.
To practice inclusiveness and ensure affordable access to the resources needed to design and conceive works of hand crafted jewellery and metal art.
Provide our emerging artists with the use of an extensive suite of professional quality tools and equipment enabling the production of unique metal art and jewellery.
Offer the community access to our extensive library of jewellery and metal arts books, to enrich technical knowledge and inspire creative exploration.
Foster research and offer workshops in new technologies and techniques that could have a transformative effect on the creation of jewellery and metal arts.
Develop opportunities for contemporary artists to explore and integrate metal arts into their creative process.
Promote the work of participating emerging artists through shows and exhibits.
Encourage dynamic discussions about the cultural and historical role of metal arts in our society including representation by indigenous and other culturally diverse artists.
